Before the event started I had doubts about the number of people that will show up, but I couldn’t be wronger. More than 60 people came to the event. It was awesome to see all this new faces with different interests.
New ideas were introduced during the meetup and brought more traction to the whole event.
Igor Jović – White City Soft
Automating Complex Geo Mapping Platform with Ansible
Igor made a case study of how you can minimize IT personnel in charge of handling multiple application environments in large scale applications which require complex services with redundancy combining Geo routing, geo coding and other geo related services. A valuable point was that tools for configuration management like Ansible eliminate human error by documenting all configuration changes in scripts themselves – forbidding manual contact with the instances.
Miljenko Rebernišak – Devana Technologies
Scaling WordPress with Amazon Cloud
This time, we had a case study on WordPress scaling using AWS including practical problems it brings and how it was solved and organized. Intro to the presentation was a short description of AWS services used and what each of them does. Followed with step by step development of the solution and big picture diagrams of architecture and benefits they got with it. The whole presentation brought smoothness of good preparation and planning.
Vukasin Vukoje – Orchestrating Docker Containers
Kubernetes, Docker, Mesos, Vagrant live demonstration how to bring this all up together. Everything around presentation brought something fresh although it on moment was very difficult to be followed. Vukasin tried to bring containers a little closer to audience and benefits of Kubernetes container cluster on development and ease of use it brings. Live run presentation from console brought the main idea try it yourself and play around with containers. Presentation made definitely drinkup after meetup more vibrant and more interesting.
